Cosplay is one of the highlights of any anime convention, and Anime Ame is no exception! We love seeing the incredible creativity, craftsmanship, and passion that our attendees bring to their costumes. Whether you're debuting an elaborate build or rocking a casual closet cosplay, vibe out, our convention floor is your stage!

Cosplay Contest — Sunday, May 10

The Ichigo Ichiban Cosplay Contest is the main event! Take the stage and compete for prizes in front of our expert panel of judges and a cheering audience.

1:00 PM — Contest check-in (Backstage Area)
2:00 PM — Beginners Contest begins (Main Stage)
2:30 PM — Journeyman Contest begins (Main Stage)
3:00 PM — Masters Contest begins (Main Stage)
3:30 PM — Anime Ame Trivia Show
4:00 PM — Awards ceremony

Categories for each experience level

Best Sewist — Judged on sewing quality, detail, technique, and patterning
Best Crafter — Judged on craftsmanship, detail, and technique
Best in Show — The overall top entry combining craftsmanship and performance
Fan Favorite — Voted on by the audience!

Rules

All ages and skill levels are welcome to compete
Costumes must be from an anime, manga, Japanese video game, or Japanese pop culture source
Props must be convention-safe (no real weapons, sharp edges, or projectiles)
Pre-recorded audio for walk-ons must be submitted by 11:59 PM on May 5th

Cosplay Guidelines & Policies

To keep everyone safe and comfortable, please follow these guidelines when cosplaying at Anime Ame:

Costumes must be family-friendly — If we get notified by multiple people about your cosplay we have a cosplay council who will look at your cosplay and decide if you can stay at the venue. General rule of thumb is if your costume ends up flashing someone, or If you are dressed like a pre cyborg Stroheim from JJBA with all the historical symbols we will be asking you to leave.
Props must be peace-bonded — Visit our prop check station at registration to get your props approved and tagged
No real weapons — Realistic-looking prop weapons must be clearly fake. Metal weapons, even decorative ones, are not permitted
Cosplay is not consent — Always ask before touching someone's costume or taking their photo
Keep pathways clear — Large costumes and props should not block hallways or doorways
Changing areas — Designated cosplay changing rooms are available near the registration area
