Our story, our mission, our community
Anime Ame was born from a need to have a con that was more community focused than relying on spectacle. While modern cons have giant celebrities, industry panels, opportunities to buy that rare $2000 figurine, and are usually for-profit, we made a con that is more community focused.
We are a nonprofit. We prioritize fan run panels, the local artists, and cosplayer as they help make a convention feel alive. We also make sure our convention is low cost and assessible so more fans have a chance to participate in this community.
The name "Ame" (雨) means "rain" in Japanese referencing the rainy climate of the Pacific Northwest. Our mascot, a teru teru bozu, is meant to bring sunny weather or clear skies. We hope that Anime Ame is here to bring some light and joy to anime fans everywhere.
At Anime Ame, our mission is to build and celebrate a diverse, inclusive community united by a shared passion for anime, manga, gaming, and Japanese culture. We strive to:
We believe that the best conventions are built on respect, inclusivity, and genuine enthusiasm. Every decision we make is guided by our diverse team's commitment to creating an experience where everyone feels welcome, valued, and excited to be part of the local scene.
